Shiloh Counseling Center See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. Colossians 2:8 (NIV) |

Greetings from Shiloh Counseling Center! Shiloh Counseling Center Board of Directors Rev. Anthony Harper, Ph.D. - President Phil Sorenson, M. Min. Aleta Leeper, M.Ed. - Secretary Can or Can't Afford Counseling? Phone Counseling Services for: Individual Counseling Marriage Counseling Family Counseling Career/Vocational Counseling Issues dealt with: Low Sense of Worth Depression Anxiety Excessive Anger Codependency Substance Abuse & Other Addictive Disorders Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Career Change Shiloh Counseling Center, Inc. was organized in August of 1987 as a Christian nonprofit mental health care facility. We offer help and hope to those who cannot afford the high cost of mental health care with a philosophy based upon Christian principles. Shiloh uses professional treatment staff and procedures. (All of our counselors follow the ethical guidelines of the International Association of Biblical Counselors which greatly exceed the training requirements and ethical standards of state counselor license boards. For further information about the IABC, view their internet web site at www.iabc.net.) * All primary treatment counselors and social workers have a minimum of a Master's degree in counseling or a related field. Our main goal is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in order that people will come to know Him as their personal Savior. Your prayers and financial help is needed to sponsor our counselors who serve as missionaries to those in need. Why seek professional help? We often hear the comment "If a person can't solve his own problems, no one else can. However, there are times in everyone's life when they feel helpless in certain life situations. At these times, following the advice of a * competent counselor can help the person in coping with the difficulty. People with problems in business and professional occupations do not hesitate to turn to experts in these fields. Certainly the establishment of marriage, rearing of children, or making satisfactory emotion adjustments to life may also require consulting a trained person. * Only Jesus the true Counselor can heal us. "I waited patiently for God to help me; then he listened and heard my cry.. he lifted me out of the pit of despair.....he has given me a new song to sing, of praises to our God." Psalms 40: 1-3 ( from The Book - a special edition of the Living Bible) What about the counselor's qualifications? * All primary treatment counselors and social workers have a minimum of a Master's degree in counseling or a related field. Each has been trained in understanding and working with problems of human behavior on emotional/spiritual levels. The goal of each counselor is to use skills and training to help individuals or families understand themselves, learn to handle problem situations more effectively and bring about desired changes in their lives and environment. Dr. Anthony Harper (founder and executive director of Shiloh) was called to serve the indigent and working poor out of his personal experience of being saved by JESUS from drug abuse and suicide. Anthony has a Doctorate degree in Psychology from California Coast University, post graduate work in counseling with Liberty University, a Master's degree in General Guidance and Counseling from The College of Idaho (now called Albertson College of Idaho), and has passed the National Counselor Examination. His undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies was completed at The University of The State of New York. Dr. Harper is listed in the Second Edition (1998 issue) of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. What can a person expect when they first come for counseling? Shiloh Counseling Center tries to get an idea as to what the client sees as the problem -- why they are hurting. We help them set a goal -- what they want to accomplish by us working together. How long does therapy take? Our goal is not to have the client become dependent on the counselor for a long period of time, but to help them learn positive ways of responding to difficulties. What about confidentiality? Clients can expect that discussions will be kept confidential, except as otherwise required by law. Examples of times when confidentiality must be breached are where child abuse has occurred or where the patient threatens violence against themself or another person. Is counseling expensive? No, there are no fees. We are solely supported by donations. Shiloh Counseling Center, Inc. is incorporated as a nonprofit Organization under the laws of the State of Idaho and has 501 (c) (3) status as a nonprofit mental health care clinic with the Internal Revenue Service. As a qualified charitable organization, donations qualify for deduction under the Internal Revenue Code - for further information, consult your tax advisor. 208-703-8688 Send us an E-mail: shilohc@afo.net Executive Director Rev.
